As 2015 begins, many people are preparing or have prepared New Year’s resolutions. Some wish to improve their outlook on life, some resolve to quit a bad habit, while others may want to begin a new “good” habit. All in all, it is safe to say that the recurring theme for January is change. Changes can be exhilarating, scary, or even unwanted but one thing is certain, all things change. We at Hess Air pride ourselves with being on the forefront of change and are always ready and willing to make necessary changes to improve what we have to offer our clients. Some changes may be minor such as switching to electronic billing for our clients who prefer emailed statements or taking the time to train our service professionals each week so they are aware of the new technology available for our valued consumers. As this new year begins, there have also been changes within our own HVAC industry. New regulations effective January 1, 2015 placed by the U.S. Department of Energy has raised the minimum air conditioning equipment Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) standards from 13 to 14. SEER ratings are calculated by dividing how much an A/C unit cools by how much energy it uses during a typical cooling season. The higher the SEER rating, the less energy it consumes, the more efficient the unit. This is great for news for our clients because a higher efficiency translates into energy savings on your electric bill. Some manufacturers have projected a 55-66 percent increase in total energy savings. Naturally, savings do vary based on geography and other variables. However, any change that translates into energy savings for our consumers is Fantastic!! We love to help our clients save money.
